Air India Ahmedabad-London Flight Crash Marks First-Ever Fatal Accident Involving Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner
The Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London crashed Thursday afternoon, marking the first fatal accident involving a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner since the aircraft entered service in 2011.
Until this tragic incident, the 787-8 Dreamliner had maintained a spotless safety record, with nearly 1,000 aircraft delivered over the past 14 years.
According to NDTV report, which cited Boeing website, said it is the best-selling wide-body passenger jet of all time, having transported more than one billion passengers globally. Known for its fuel efficiency—consuming up to 25% less fuel than comparable aircraft—it also holds the distinction of being the fastest wide-body jet in aviation history. The aircraft boasts a long-haul range of 13,530 kilometres and can accommodate up to 248 passengers, making it a popular choice for intercontinental routes.

Air India currently operates 27 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, classified as legacy aircraft. Its wide-body fleet also includes,6 Airbus A350s, 19 Boeing 777-300ERs, 5 Boeing 777-200LRs and 7 Boeing 787-9s
The narrow-body fleet comprises:

• 94 Airbus A320neos
• 4 Airbus A320ceos
• 13 Airbus A321ceos
• 10 Airbus A321neos
Details of the Plane Crashed June 12
The ill-fated flight was headed to London Gatwick Airport and had a total of 242 people onboard, including,169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens,1 Canadian and 7 Portuguese nationals
Additionally, 2 pilots and 10 crew members were operating the flight at the time of the crash. Many are feared dead.
