Are India and Pakistan heading for war again? Here's what's happening

There are discussions on social media that India and Pakistan might be heading for war again.

India and Pakistan war again? 2025 can never be forgotten; at least, the families of 26 people, who lost their lives in the deadliest Pahalgam attack, will never forget the black day. On April 22, some terrorists entered the Baisaran Valley, wearing uniforms of the Indian Army, holding rifles in their hands, and opened fire on civilians who were present there to enjoy their vacation and honeymoon.

26 people lost their lives, all men, mostly married. The terrorists wiped off the Sindoor from the heads of those women who lost their husbands in the attack. In a retaliatory move, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025. India destroyed multiple terror camps in PoK and Pakistan.

After initial hits during Operation Sindoor, Pakistan was asked not to escalate, citing that the operation was against terrorism and that no military units of Pakistan were attacked in it. But it was Pakistan! They don't understand words. Hence, they went all out on India, but all went in vain.

While India's air defence system alone thwarted all attempts by Pakistan to jolt India, the neighbours faced the heat of the Indian armed forces' attack in Pakistan, leaving major air bases damaged, killing several terrorists, and what not.

Now, there are discussions on social media about whether India and Pakistan might be heading for war again.

Why is that so, and is it happening?

Pak Army chief's threat to India from the US

The speculations are rife after Pakistan's Army Chief Asim Munir gave an open threat of a "nuclear war" from American soil. While addressing an event in Tampa, Florida, Munir threatened to take down "half the world" if Pakistan faced an existential threat in a future war with India. It is pertinent to mention that this threat came from the land of the US, where there is PM Modi's friend, the US President Donald Trump.

'India’s next war could be closer than we think'

On the other hand, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said that India’s next war could be closer than we think and it won’t be fought by soldiers alone. He called for a “whole-of-nation” approach to national defence, asking citizens to prepare as one.

India, Pakistan Navies to Conduct Parallel Drills in Arabian Sea

In a rare show of military activity, the navies of India and Pakistan are all set to hold separate war exercises in the Arabian Sea, starting Monday, with drills expected to last for several days. While both sides have issued Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to mark the exercise areas within their maritime boundaries, details of the participating warships remain undisclosed.

Modi-Trump friendship over?

It was Donald Trump who announced the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, and since then, he has been seeking credit for playing a mediating role in stopping the potential nuclear war between the two countries. Trump has claimed more than 25 times that he stopped the war, threatening both countries with no trade. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it clear that it was Pakistan that asked for the ceasefire.

In a major turn of events, the friend turned foe, Donald Trump, initially imposed a 25 per cent tariff and then a similar one as an additional tariff later on. Not just imposing tariffs, but Donald Trump has been issuing several unfavourable statements for India.

Likewise, PM Modi recently made it clear that he will not put the farmers' interests at stake and is ready to make a big sacrifice.

Thus, it raises the question: Is the friendship over?

These factors have added fuel to the question, "Are India and Pakistan heading for war again?"
