Tragic Drowning Incident in Rajasthan's Banas River Claims Eight Lives
In a deeply saddening incident on Tuesday, eight out of eleven youths from Jaipur drowned in the Banas River in Tonk district, Rajasthan. The group had come for a picnic when several individuals entered the river and were swept away. Others attempting to rescue them also succumbed.
SP Tonk Vikas Sangwan confirmed to ANI, "11 adults from Jaipur had come here for a picnic. It is understood that a few people from the group entered the river and drowned. When the remaining others tried to save them, they also drowned..."
Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma expressed his profound grief over the tragedy. In a post on X, he described the incident as "extremely saddening and painful." He also stated that district administration officials have been instructed to "swiftly carry out rescue and relief operations."
The Chief Minister concluded his message with a prayer for the departed souls and strength for their grieving families: "I pray to God to grant peace to the departed souls and strength to their grieving families to bear this immense sorrow. Om Shanti!"
