Air Chief Marshal Wishes Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla All the Best for Axiom-4 Space Mission
As Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla prepares to embark on the Axiom-4 space mission tomorrow, the Chief of the Air Staff and personnel of the Indian Air Force (IAF) have extended their best wishes to him and the entire Axiom-4 crew.
Group Captain Shukla will become the second Indian to travel to space, following Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma, who did so in 1984.
In a post shared on the official X handle of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh is seen interacting virtually with Group Captain Shukla.
"As Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla prepares to embark on the Axiom-4 space mission tomorrow, the Chief of the Air Staff and all Air Warriors of the IAF wish him and the entire crew of Axiom-4 all the best for a safe and successful journey to the International Space Station. This will add a new chapter to the Indian Space Odyssey," the post read, ending with the IAF motto: "Touch the sky with glory!"
Group Captain Shukla, along with three other astronauts, will travel to the International Space Station aboard a SpaceX rocket and Crew Dragon capsule as part of the Axiom-4 mission.
The spacecraft is scheduled to lift off at 8:00 am ET (5:30 pm IST) from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Group Captain Shukla received training under India’s Gaganyaan program. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and, as per an NDTV report, was commissioned into the Indian Air Force on June 17, 2006, in the fighter stream.
A highly decorated Fighter Combat Leader and Test Pilot, he has accumulated nearly 2,000 flying hours across a wide range of aircraft, including the Su-30 MKI, MiG-21, MiG-29, Jaguar, Hawk, Dornier, and An-32.
