PIB Busts Fake News: No IAF Pilot Shivangi Singh Captured, No Explosions at Srinagar Airport latest news: The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit has strongly refuted a string of misleading and false claims circulating across social media, urging the public to rely only on official sources for verified information amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.

A major rumour that went viral on pro-Pakistan social media accounts falsely alleged that Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh, one of the Indian Air Force’s first female fighter pilots, had been captured by Pakistani forces. The PIB Fact Check unit labelled the claim completely fake, emphasizing that the officer is safe and no such incident has occurred.

“This claim is completely FAKE,” the PIB said in an official statement shared on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

In another viral piece of misinformation, some posts suggested that Indian soldiers were abandoning their posts and breaking down emotionally under pressure at the border. PIB categorically dismissed this report as fabricated and baseless.

Additionally, the Fact Check unit refuted a claim that Al Jazeera English had reported around 10 explosions near Srinagar airport in Jammu and Kashmir. The agency clarified that no such report was made by the international news outlet, and the news of explosions was entirely false.

“Do not fall for these false claims intended to mislead and cause confusion,” PIB cautioned the public, reiterating the importance of checking facts through verified and official government channels.

These false reports appear to be part of a larger misinformation campaign attempting to create panic and erode public trust during a period of heightened military vigilance. Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution and refrain from forwarding unverified information.
