MEA spokesperson expressed serious concern over the fresh hostilities
India Slams Pakistan for Violating Ceasefire Hours After Agreement, MEA Issues Strong Warning latest news: Just hours after India and Pakistan publicly agreed to a ceasefire brokered by the United States, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has accused Pakistan of violating the agreement at multiple locations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border during the night of May 10.
In a late-night press briefing, a senior MEA spokesperson expressed serious concern over the fresh hostilities, stating, "An understanding was reached this evening between the DGMOs (Director Generals of Military Operations) of India and Pakistan to stop the military action that was going on for the last few days. For the last few hours, this understanding is being violated by Pakistan."
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri says, "The Armed Forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation and have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the borders along the international border as well as the line of control"
The Ministry confirmed that Indian forces are actively responding to the border intrusions and retaliating with appropriate force. “The Indian Army is retaliating and dealing with this border intrusion. This intrusion is extremely condemnable and Pakistan is responsible for it,” the MEA official added.
India has warned Pakistan against escalating tensions and urged it to honor the ceasefire deal, stressing that any further provocation could have serious consequences. "We believe that Pakistan should understand this situation properly and take appropriate action immediately to stop this intrusion," the MEA emphasized.
The fresh violations cast doubt over the longevity of the ceasefire agreement announced earlier by U.S. President Donald Trump, which had been widely welcomed as a major diplomatic breakthrough in de-escalating tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors.
As of now, there has been no official response from Pakistan on the reported violations. The situation remains tense along the LoC, with Indian security forces maintaining high alert.
