The Union government has acknowledged that the drug remdesivir, which helps in defeating the coronavirus is being sold in black market in Delhi. The needy people are being charged for this medicine at a very high rate.
CoronavirusNow the Union Government has issued an alert to the states and Union Territories. The Drug Regulatory Authority of India has asked the drug controllers of the states and union territories to keep a close watch on the anti-viral vaccine remdesivir to curb black marketing. The drug is approved for use in the treatment of Covid-19 patients on an emergency and limited basis.
Dr VG Somani, Drug Controller of India, said in a letter to the Drug Controllers of the States and Union Territories that his office had received a letter expressing concern that some persons were selling drugs at ten times to its cost.
He said that the complaint was received from the social media platform 'Local Circles' through the Ministry of Health. The Drug Controller of India has directed the authorities to keep a close watch on the sale of remdesivir vaccine and to curb its black marketing.
RemdesivirIt may be mentioned here that at present the central government has considered remdesivir to be effective in preventing coronavirus.
In such cases, the supply of this medicine is less in most of the states. That is why black marketers are selling this vaccine at a price they want.
