He appealed to all media professionals to avail the benefits of this welfare scheme and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister
Patna, Bihar Minister for Road Construction and BJP MLA from Bankipur, Shri Nitin Nabin Latest news:
Patna, Bihar’s Minister for Road Construction and BJP MLA from Bankipur, Shri Nitin Nabin, stated that the respect and welfare of journalists the fourth pillar of democracy have always been among the top priorities of the NDA government. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar, the Bihar government has taken a historic decision to increase the pension amount under the “Bihar Journalist Honor Pension Scheme” from Rs 6,000 to Rs 15,000 per month. Additionally, the pension amount for the spouse of a deceased journalist has been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 10,000 per month, to be provided for life. This is not just a policy announcement, but a concrete and sensitive step toward ensuring the dignity, social security, and quality of life for journalists.
Shri Nitin Nabin added that while the NDA government continues to take progressive and welfare-oriented steps in the interest of journalists, the attitude of the Leader of the Opposition and his party, the RJD, has consistently been insulting, oppressive, and undemocratic towards the media. On several occasions, journalists have been publicly labeled with derogatory terms such as “paid stooges” and “contract reporters.” In 2022, during a press conference, the Leader of the Opposition displayed visible anger and threatened journalists on camera a clear violation of democratic decorum. Furthermore, in July 2017, he was accused of instructing his security personnel to physically assault a journalist. Prior to that, his father Lalu Prasad Yadav had also publicly used offensive language against members of the press. These incidents clearly demonstrate that whenever RJD has been in power, the freedom, safety, and dignity of journalists have been most at risk.
While the Leader of the Opposition continues to openly use abusive language against media professionals, the NDA government stands firm in honoring and protecting the rights and dignity of journalists. Shri Nitin Nabin emphasized that the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar is clear journalists should not only enjoy complete freedom in their profession but also be entitled to a dignified life after retirement. He appealed to all media professionals to avail the benefits of this welfare scheme and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister for this visionary and sensitive decision.
