CRPF 84 Battalion Celebrates 87th Raising Day Latest News: The CRPF 84 Battalion celebrated its 87th Raising Day at its Tactical Headquarters in Chanderkote, Ramban, on Sunday.
The CRPF Raising Day, observed on July 27 each year, commemorates the establishment of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) — a key central armed police force in India responsible for internal security.
Commandant Ranbir Singh on Sunday paid tribute to the martyrs, with other officials in attendance. A plantation drive was also conducted as part of the celebration.
Speaking to ANI, Commandant Ranbir Singh said, “Today, the CRPF celebrates its 87th Raising Day across the nation. We pay homage to the martyrs, then conduct a guard of honour and hold a Sainik Sammelan. Plantation activities are underway, and sweets are being distributed.”
He further emphasized the CRPF’s vital role in the Amarnath Yatra, adding, “CRPF plays a crucial role in the Amarnath Yatra. Travellers go to their registration points and camps, such as Bhagwati Nagar, which also works in coordination with the CRPF. The CRPF escorts the convoy of travellers. Wherever they begin, the CRPF provides security for the final stretch, which is a major part of ensuring the safety of the journey to Amarnath.”
The CRPF was originally founded as the Crown Representative’s Police on July 27, 1939, by the British. Following India’s independence in 1947, the force was renamed the Central Reserve Police Force by an Act of Parliament in 1949.
