Rajouri/Jammu: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday reviewed the security situation in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch of Jammu and Kashmir. A total of 35 people, including 26 soldiers, have lost their lives in eight attacks by militants in these districts since October 2021.

Officials said that Rajnath Singh stayed in Jammu for some time and then reached the 'Ace of Spades Division' headquarters in Rajouri along with Army Chief General Manoj Pandey and Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha. Meanwhile, he also interacted with the jawans engaged in the campaign against the terrorists.

Five jawans were martyred and a senior officer was injured in an explosion carried out by terrorists during the Army's anti-terrorist operation 'Operation Trinetra' in the Kandi forest area of Rajouri district on Friday. On Saturday morning, the news came out that during the operation, one terrorist was killed and another one was injured.

According to officials, General Manoj Pandey had reached Jammu from Delhi shortly before the Defense Minister. Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Corps Commander White Knight Corps and Divisional Commissioner Jammu also visited Rajouri along with Rajnath Singh.

According to officials, before returning to Jammu, the defense minister was briefed about the ongoing operations in the Kandi forest region, after which he chaired a high-level meeting to review the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in Rajouri and Poonch. .

Earlier, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Dwivedi visited the operation venue. Meanwhile, they were briefed by the commanders about the latest developments of 'Operation Trinetra'.
