Indian Coast Guard Conducts 10th National Level Pollution Response Exercise in Chennai Latest News: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is conducting the 10th edition of the National Level Pollution Response Exercise (NATPOLREX-X) in Chennai, beginning today for a duration of two days.

The biennial exercise aims to enhance preparedness and coordination in responding to marine pollution incidents, particularly oil spills at sea.

Director General Paramesh Sivamani emphasized that the Coast Guard takes great pride in ensuring that India's maritime frontiers and oceans remain clean, allowing future generations to enjoy the marine environment.

Speaking to news agency ANI, DG Sivamani stated, “NATPOLREX-X is a demonstrated commitment of the Indian Coast Guard to ensure that all regional partners and friendly foreign countries in the Indo-Pacific are well-prepared and geared to meet any contingency that might arise due to oil spillage at sea. The Coast Guard takes great pride in ensuring that our maritime frontiers, seas, and oceans remain clean for future generations.”

He further added, “As I said in my opening remarks, we are going to witness the sea exercise tomorrow. This event also includes a number of technical sessions designed to understand the nuances of maritime pollution response and to strengthen preparedness further.”
