Delhi Elections 2025 latest news: February 5, Delhi citizens will take to the polls as assembly elections close. These are three major Parties: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Congress.
The voters will select representatives to each of the 70 Assembly constituencies. The election result will be declared on February 8, three days after the elections. It will be the first major election of the year, and it is going to determine the new government in Delhi. The election will decide who takes over from Chief Minister Atishi.
Delhi is officially called the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. According to the Election Commission of India, 1.56 crore voters exist in Delhi. This consists of 83.76 lakh males, 72.36 lakh females, and 1,267 third-gender voters. For voters, there are a total of 13,766 polling stations established so that the fate of Delhi may be decided through votes. Out of these, 733 polling stations have been particularly designated for people with disabilities.
The elections are almost fully secured as 220 paramilitary companies, 19,000 home guards, and 35,626 Delhi Police personnel will guard voting stations to facilitate the smooth voting process.
Furthermore, a total of 21,584 ballot units, 20,692 control units, and 18,943 VVPATs shall be installed, along with dummy and Braille ballot papers.
Major Candidates: Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is again in the fray From New Delhi constituency. He is being challenged by BJP's Parvesh Verma and Congress's Sandeep Dikshit. AAP candidate and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi is in the fray from Kalkaji constituency against Congress leader Alka Lamba and BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri.
AAP's Manish Sisodia is up against BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress's Farhad Suri from the Jangpura seat. The Senior AAP leader Satyendar Jain is contesting from Shakur Basti, opposing BJP's Karnail Singh.
Delhi Election Timing: Delhi assembly elections are conducted in a single phase from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. On February 3, the Election Commission issued a notice stated that any exit poll result pertaining to General and bye-elections, not to be conducted, published, publicized or disseminated by print or electronic media or otherwise from 7:00 am to 6:30 pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
