IMD Issues Alerts Delhi and Kolkata latest news: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several parts of Himachal Pradesh, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. Districts under the orange alert include Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur. Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for other regions, where thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and winds ranging from 30 to 50 km/h are expected.
Meanwhile, Delhi and Kolkata are also likely to experience rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds today.
The weather in the hill state remained mostly dry on Tuesday, with only a few areas experiencing light rain and snowfall. According to the meteorological centre, Kufri, Karsog, and Guler recorded 20 mm of rainfall, while Pandoh, Sundernagar, Shimla, Gohar, Aghar, Mandi, Bharmaur, Paonta Sahib, Solan, Chopal, Bilaspur, and Una received around 10 mm. Hansa witnessed 2.5 cm of snowfall, as reported by news agency PTI.
The weather department has also issued a rainfall alert for Delhi and Kolkata.
In the national capital, residents woke up to cooler and more pleasant conditions this morning, with light winds adding to the comfort. Overcast skies offered much-needed relief from the recent heat and humidity, and a noticeable drop in temperatures was recorded in several parts of the city.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert, forecasting more rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
The maximum temperature is likely to range between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius. The weather outlook includes partly cloudy skies, light rain, and thunderstorms, with gusty winds reaching up to 60 km/h during stormy conditions.
Kolkata is also expected to see rain and thunderstorms today.
