The heightened security follows a series of earlier protests by other farmer groups.
Farmers Protest: The Noida Police has tightened security and implemented rigorous checks ahead of the farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ march, which has caused significant traffic congestion at the Chilla Border. A comprehensive traffic advisory has been issued to manage the situation.
The protest, organized by the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) in collaboration with other groups like the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), is centered around demands for compensation, agricultural reforms, and a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Long queues of vehicles were spotted at the Chilla Border as police conducted inspections to manage the flow of protestors heading toward Delhi. Sukhbir Khalifa, a leader of the BKP, announced that the march would begin today at noon from the Maha Maya flyover in Noida.
“We will march to Delhi to demand compensation and benefits under the new laws,” Khalifa shared during an interaction with ANI.
Both Noida and Delhi Police are monitoring the situation closely, with barricades and diversions in place to ensure safety and control traffic bottlenecks. Commuters in the Delhi-NCR region have been advised to plan alternative routes to avoid affected areas.
Farmers from Uttar Pradesh are expected to converge at Delhi’s Parliament complex, where the Winter Session is in progress, to press for five key demands. These demands include guaranteed MSP and adequate compensation under new agricultural policies.
The heightened security follows a series of earlier protests by other farmer groups, such as the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, which has also planned a march toward Delhi later this week.
Authorities have urged residents to cooperate with the arrangements and stay informed through official updates to minimize inconvenience.
