PM Modi enquired about Kharge’s health and wished him a speedy recovery. “Praying for his continued well-being and long life,” PM Modi said in a post on X.
According to The Hindu, Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House, 83-year-old Mallikarjun Kharge underwent a surgical procedure to have a pacemaker implanted. A pacemaker helps regulate a slow or irregular heartbeat.
He was admitted to the city’s M S Ramaiah Hospital on Tuesday, party sources said, as reported by The Hindu.
Kharge’s son and Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge confirmed that his father underwent the procedure and that his condition is stable and he is doing well.
“Sri Kharge was advised to have a pacemaker implanted and was admitted to the hospital for the planned procedure. He is stable and doing well. Grateful to all of you for your concern and wishes,” Priyank Kharge said in a post on X.
“Doctors had advised the pacemaker implantation due to age-related issues and breathlessness. They said it was needed for heart rate stabilization. Other than that, there is no problem. The procedure has been completed. Everything is okay and stable. There is no need for anyone to worry. With the blessings and wishes of the people, he (Mr. Kharge) has no other problem,” Priyank Kharge was quoted as saying in the report.
Doctors have advised Mallikarjun Kharge to rest after the surgery. “He may need two to three days of rest; there is no need for worry,” his son added.

“Siddaramaiah today met AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, who is undergoing treatment at M S Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru, and inquired about his health. He wished him a speedy recovery,” the Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement.
