The decision to host the final in Ahmedabad came after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a change in venues for the playoffs and final, moving them from Kolkata's Eden Gardens to Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
RCB defeated PBKS in Qualifier 1 but then Punjab defeated Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 to meet RCB again in the final.
Although Qualifier 2 was delayed due to rain after the toss, which was won by PBKS and the team had opted to bowl first, the game continued later at 9:45 PM. Punjab won the match and entered final.
Since IMD has issued a warning for light rainfall on June 3 as well, let's know what will happen if the match gets affected due to rain.
If it rains on the night of June 3, the game is allowed to extend by up to two extra hours on the same night (June 3) to complete the match. If the rain doesn’t stop or the match still can’t be finished even after using those extra two hours, there is a Reserve Day, scheduled for June 4.
A Reserve Day is a backup date reserved solely to complete the match if weather conditions on the original match day. In case, the rains on the night of June 4 also don't stop and the match is affected, the team that finished higher in the league stage will be crowned champion.
