Monsoon Rains Disrupt Life in Himachal Pradesh; IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Warning
Continuous monsoon rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has severely disrupted normal life across the state.
According to a report by All India Radio (AIR) on Monday morning, 129 roads have been closed due to landslides, while 39 people have lost their lives and four are still missing.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for the state, predicting possible flash floods in 10 districts within the next 24 hours. The forecast indicates that heavy rain is expected to continue until July 5.
In its latest update, the IMD has predicted, heavy rainfall for Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between June 30 and July 6 while a very heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand on June 30 and July 1, and in Himachal Pradesh on June 30.
Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is likely at most places in the region, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds reaching 30–40 km/h over the next seven days.
