SC constituted 10-member National Task Force to make recommendations on prevention of violence for medical professionals
Chandigarh PGI Doctors Strike Over Kolkata Rape and Murder Case Latest News: Expressing solidarity with the doctors protesting at the RG Kar Medical and Hospital in Kolkata, the doctors of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh also continue their demonstration against the alleged sexual assault and murder of a resident doctor in Kolkata.
The doctor's protest has continued for over 10 days with the doctors claiming to continue it until their demands are met. The main demand is to ensure justice for trainee doctor in Kolkata and the enforcement of the Central Protection Act.
The alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical and Hospital in Kolkata has garnered a wave of outrage from doctors and the general public across the country. Likewise, the protesting doctors say, "This movement will continue until justice is served".
In the meanwhile, the Chandigarh PGIMER doctors have opened up an 'Open OPD', where they treat patients on the protest site itself. The doctors said that they were trying to fulfill their responsibility to treat the patients as they had decided to treat the patients on the spot of the protest, to ensure that those who came for treatment did not have to face any trouble.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court constituted a 10-member National Task Force to make recommendations on the prevention of violence and safe working conditions for medical professionals and urged the protesting doctors to resume their duties and end their protest.
