Temple in Attawa village among 21 temples to be demolished, an anti-encroachment initiative: Chandigarh Administration, latest news:
The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has announced plans to demolish 21 religious sites in the city that are built on government land, according to an official order reported by English Jagran.
According to the report, in an official order, Chandigarh Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar has constituted an anti-encroachment team to carry out the demolition of the temples.
The decision has sparked widespread criticism, particularly over the demolition of a temple in Attawa village. According to the report, this temple predates the establishment of the municipal corporation.
"This is the only temple in Attawa village. If it is demolished, where will people go for the blessings of the Goddess and to offer their prayers? This is not just a building, but a religious site deeply connected to the faith and emotions of the people,” Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty is quoted as saying.
He urged the administration to consider alternative solutions to avoid demolishing the temple.
Locals have also voiced strong opposition to the demolition order, demanding that the temple be preserved.
