LPG Cylinder Price Hike News: Just ahead of the festive season, inflation has struck with a hike in commercial LPG prices. Government oil marketing companies have raised the price of commercial LPG cylinders starting October 1, with the new rates coming into effect immediately. Let's take a look at how much the prices have increased and whether domestic LPG rates have been affected.
Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Rise
The cost of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by ₹48.5. In Delhi, the new price now stands at ₹1,740 per cylinder. In other major cities, the prices are ₹1,850 in Kolkata, ₹1,692 in Mumbai, and ₹1,903 in Chennai. This follows a previous hike in August when the price was raised by ₹6.5 per cylinder.
Domestic LPG Cylinder Prices Unchanged
Fortunately, the hike only applies to commercial cylinders, with no change in the price of domestic LPG cylinders. This means household cooking costs remain stable, but the increase in commercial LPG prices may result in higher costs for dining out.
Aviation Sector Sees Relief with Cheaper Fuel
While the hospitality industry faces price hikes, airlines have been given relief through a reduction in the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF). Government oil companies have slashed ATF prices by ₹5,883 per kilolitre (1,000 liters), following a previous reduction of ₹4,495.48 last month. It remains to be seen whether airlines will pass this savings on to passengers in the form of lower airfares.
