Patna: Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, while wishing all the members and media personnel on the first day of the monsoon session, said in his opening address that this 510th session will start from today, July 21, and will continue till July 25. There will be five meetings in it. This session is not only the last link of the five-year constitutional provision, but it is also an opportunity to evaluate the joint efforts, policies, and decisions taken in public interest by all of us. This opportunity gives us a chance to introspect to what extent we have worked in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Bihar in the last five years.
During this period, the Bihar Legislative Assembly made many efforts to improve the quality of governance by passing many important bills. We worked dedicatedly to improve the lives of farmers, workers, women, youth, backward classes and deprived communities. Detailed discussions and legislative decisions were taken in the Legislative Assembly on topics like education, health, infrastructure, digital governance, skill development and women empowerment.
He said that during the global pandemic of Covid-19, our House supported the State Government in taking necessary policy decisions to protect the lives of the people. In times of crisis, the activism of our public representatives and the spirit of administrative cooperation became a true example of the people.
All members, we should also remember that differences are the soul of democracy, but rising above differences of opinion, we have given priority to public interest. This reflects the maturity and tradition of the House. During this tenure, we have tried to make the proceedings of the House more transparent and technically strong. Measures like e-Vidhan system, digital database and online availability of sessional proceedings have been initiated to reduce the distance between the public and the public representatives. Now that we are going to move towards a new journey, I thank all the members for their contribution. Despite differences, the dignity and discipline with which work was done in this House has been inspiring.
He especially thanked those senior members who enriched this House with their experience, speeches and commitment. During the upcoming elections, I appeal to all political parties and candidates to follow democratic norms, ensure peaceful and fair elections, and keep the trust of the people paramount.
Finally, I express my gratitude to the people of Bihar, whose faith keeps this institution alive. I hope that the upcoming Legislative Assembly will be even more active, vigilant, and responsible. Our responsibility is not only law-making, but also the protection of public trust. "With these words, I once again wish you all the best for this session and hope that in this session too I will get your full cooperation in running the House and this session will also be filled with dignity, decorum and purposeful discussions as before.
