Chandigarh: Over the years, Impresario has pioneered a slew of generation defining ventures; case in point – the game changing, Social. An all-day café and bar Social has taken Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai by storm and continues to be wildly popular there - it has now swung open its doors in the beautiful city of Chandigarh. Opening on 4th January 2018, Sector 7 will house the 1st ever Social outlet in Chandigarh and the 18th outlet in India.

So what’s different about ‘Social’?

Everything: Social is everything but your run-of-the-mill square restaurant. Right from the decor to the drinks, the food to the ethos, everything about it is far left of center. Quirky drinks and deconstructed dishes are the cafe's USP, all served with a large helping of unorthodox. It’s also the land of the free (lancer) and home of creative souls looking for an exhilarating alternative to a typical work day. It’s a path-breaking urban hangout that’s designed to take you offline while still keeping you connected; a place where networking can happen even if the net’s not working (don’t worry, the net’s always working). It’s a space where artists meet designers and innovators meet entrepreneurs meet photographers, writers meet web developers, and creative independents meet to bounce ideas off like-minded peers.

Riyaaz Amlani, C.E.O. & MD Impresario Handmade Restaurants (parent company of Social) says, “We are very excited to be moving into Sector 7, and I’m thrilled to bring the Social experience to Chandigarh, with a renewed commitment to creating a hotbed of creativity and a space that thrives on synergy for young entrepreneurs and inspired minds. The energy here is palpable, and as always, we will continue to challenge norms across the board, which will extend to food and drinks as well.”

The Interiors: The talented Abhigyan Neogi from Chromed Design Studio, who had also designed Nehru Place Social and Cyber Hub Social in Delhi, found this project the most challenging one yet. The design elements at Sector 7 Social aren’t just quirky, but incredibly functional, which lends itself to a space that is ideal for work and play. Spread across two levels and a 10,000 sq.ft. area, Sector 7 Social aims to create a series of diverse experiences for the guests. From a secret tram entrance to the outlet at the rear of the building, to tight pockets of spaces leading to a large amphitheatre like courtyard with stadium seating and an outdoor bar, Sector 7 Social is a maze of spaces, seamlessly integrated with a thread of experiences. This is an architectural pun on the planned city of Chandigarh.

The Workspace: In the last few years, Social has redefined cafe and co-working spaces by marrying the two together to create a path-breaking urban hangout that is, now, unparalleled in Bangalore, Bombay and Delhi. Social stitches a maze of different environments, all of which seamlessly come together to create the iconic ‘work meets play’ concept that Social has become synonymous with. Co-working in Chandigarh is a revolution of sorts aimed at promoting openness, accessibility, cross-pollination of ideas to create an inspiring community of people. Social is a concept; an initiative; that provides a legit physical space for inspired minds to hang together, work together and obviously party together, and the Chandigarh market is ready for that. Sector 7 Social has everything an office has; a boardroom, wall-space, and wall-to-wall uber high-speed WiFi - while on the ground floor, patrons enjoy the outlandish food and drinks on offer, the first floor is buzzing with ideas and chatter of networking and meetings. After the proverbial “workday “ends”, the space seamlessly transforms into a high energy bar.

Food & Drinks: Then of course, there’s the food. Social offers “fun-dining” comfort cafe fare that is satisfying and wholesome with their own unique twists. Over one year of R&D has gone in to creating the menu and the results are delightfully left of normal. And everything is served with a generous helping of the unexpected. The menu delivers street food that is unpretentious and fun, presented in a quirky and unconventional style. It is about departures from routines and deviations from the norm. The menu at Sector 7 Social combines ingredients, cultures and presentation styles from around the world to open up your taste horizons and let your mind make connections that you wouldn’t ordinarily make. Here’s where street food from the world gets as much spotlight as a gourmet meal. What makes the food even more interesting is how it’s served – depending on what you order, it could arrive on gramophone records, enamel plates and even wooden spiked boards. Everything has a repurposed, DIY feel.

The drinks menu is, at times, something straight out of a science fiction laboratory. Every drink you have, you will remember. The cocktails are definitely going to be the biggest draw at Social. The menu incorporates Social signatures which are classic cocktails with a splendid twist. Deconstructed Moscow Mule, Coke & Cane, Cosmo-Explosion, Thai Maalish are amongst the many other quirky cocktails with intriguing names and promising zest. Then you have our most loved Longest Long Island Iced Teas that are definite crowd pleasers. The idea is to make drinking fun and Social again, and be rest assured, you will not be affected by the #damages.

Social blends the best of the office within the ambience of a café. A relaxed space to create and collaborate, to ‘work and play’. Get your team on board or spend time here by yourselves. How you do it is secondary – what’s important is that you get to do it. See you at Sector 7 Social.
