The state government has approved substantial financial aid
Agriculture News: To support the agriculture sector in Nagpur, the state government has approved substantial financial aid for cotton and soybean farmers who suffered due to price drops last year.
To mitigate these losses, the government has introduced a financial relief package for the kharif marketing season of 2023-24.
The relief package includes a grant of ₹5,000 per hectare for areas larger than 0.2 hectares, with a maximum limit of two hectares.
Since the Government Resolution (GR) was issued on July 29, the specific allocation for Vidarbha has increased. We will need to start from scratch, including compiling a list of eligible farmers, according to an official.
The government has allocated a total of ₹4,194.68 crore for this assistance scheme. Of this amount, ₹1,548.34 crore is designated for cotton farmers, and ₹2,646.34 crore is allocated for soybean growers. This funding will be distributed as part of the additional budget presented on July 5, supporting a special action plan to enhance the productivity and value chain of cotton, soybean, and other oilseed crops.
Eligibility for the financial aid is clearly defined: cotton and soybean farmers who cultivated their crops during the 2023 kharif season are entitled to receive ₹1,000 per hectare for areas up to two hectares. This scheme is expected to boost the agriculture sector and demonstrate the government’s commitment to addressing the needs of the farming community.
