For agriculture and related sectors, the Union Government has given 1.52 lakh crore rupees
Union Budget 2024, No MSP For Farmers And Agriculture: For agriculture and related sectors, the Union Government has given 1.52 lakh crore rupees. If we talk about last year, the authority had given Rs 1.25 lakh crore rupees and this time the budget for farmers has been increased by 21.6% i.e. Rs 25,000 crore rupees.
However, despite the continuous demand of the farmers, no announcement was made in the budget regarding the minimum support price i.e. MSP. At the same time, the amount of Kisan Samman Nidhi has not been increased, it will remain only Rs 6,000 rupees.
No announcement on MSP
Regarding MSP, there were no major announcements in the budget. Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, said the government has already increased MSP on almost all major crops, a month ago.
Farmers who started protesting in 2020 have been demanding a legal assurance of minimum support price. However, the Centre has not yet fullfilled their demand. This is one of the key issues for which the farmers have been protesting against the Central Government and asking them to provide them with the legal assurance.
Likewise, the farmers in Punjab and Haryana have stayed put at the borders demanding the legal assurance on MSP along with other demands.
