“Our objective is solely to raise our demands,” said Sarwan Singh Pandher.
Farmers Protest Latest News: In a video statement, Punjab farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher clarified that their ongoing protest will avoid blocking roads and ensure a peaceful demonstration.
“We plan to proceed to Delhi without disrupting traffic. If the border opens, it will facilitate our movement, and we are open to shifting our protest to a designated area,” he said, emphasizing that their intentions have been communicated to the government.
Pandher stressed that their protests are not aimed at interfering with other events, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit on December 9. “Our objective is solely to raise our demands,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court addressed the protest at the Khanauri border, where farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on a fast-unto-death since November 26, losing 7kg in weight.
A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan reiterated the need to balance peaceful demonstrations with public convenience, urging protestors to avoid obstructing critical routes.
Advocate Guninder Kaur Gill, representing Dallewal, assured the court that the farmers are committed to responsible protests. The hunger strike underscores farmers’ demands for a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP), with Dallewal determined to continue his fast until their demands are met.
