Neve Campbell has reflected upon on her decision to disappear from films at the peak of her career, saying she "needed a minute" away from Hollywood. The 44-year-old actor, best known for headlining the "Scream" series, said she was being offered a string of similar "horror roles" which hastened her sabbatical. During "The Late Show...", host Stephen Colbert asked her, "Ten years ago, you had the world on a string And then you left! You went to London. Why don't you like us, Neve Campbell?"

"I just needed a minute," Campbell replied. "It was a long minute. It was a good minute."  "In my 20s, it all hit so fast and so big that it was a little overwhelming. Wonderful, obviously, and I'm very grateful for it, but it got to a level, also, where the kinds of things that I was being offered were not the things I wanted to do. I was constantly being offered horror films because I was known for horror films or bad romantic comedies," the actor said.

"I just wasn't interested in the scripts and I was feeling a bit unhappy with the things that were coming to me and I was feeling a little bored of the whole thing and I thought, 'I want a change'," she added. Campbell, who will next be seen in "Skyscraper", said she went to London, where she was "completely anonymous". The actor also said that she had no idea how Hollywood worked before she got into show business in the late '90s.

"I was pretty clueless because I was a dancer. I just didn't know American pop culture at all and suddenly I became an actor and suddenly these things were happening to me," Campbell said. The actor will be seen playing Sarah Sawyer, the wife to Dwayne Johnson's Will Sawyer, in the Rawson Marshall Thurber-directed "Skyscraper". The film releases worldwide on July 13.
