A Tragic End to a Storied Career: Actor-Politician Passes Away After Battling the Virus

Vijayakanth Death News: In a somber turn of events, Captain Vijayakanth, acclaimed actor and leader of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) party, breathed his last today following a battle with Covid-19. The 71-year-old charismatic personality had tested positive for the virus, leading to his admission to the hospital and subsequent reliance on ventilator support due to respiratory challenges.

On Tuesday, the DMDK had initially communicated that Vijayakanth was admitted to the hospital for a routine health check-up. At that time, party officials assured the public of his "healthy" status, stating that he would soon return home post-examinations. Sadly, the situation took a tragic turn, and Captain Vijayakanth passed away on the morning of December 28, 2023.

Vijayakanth, known for his illustrious film career with approximately 154 hit films, transitioned seamlessly into the realm of politics. Founding the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), he emerged as a prominent political figure, representing the Virudhachalam and Rishivandiam assembly seats as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
