This session will be conducted by students selected from government schools of 117 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Punjab

The Punjab Government has called a special student session for one day in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on November 26. This session will be conducted by students selected from government schools of 117 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Punjab, in which Jagmander Singh, a student of Government Senior Secondary School of Faridkot district, will represent as  Speaker from the Kotkapura Vidhan Sabha constituency.

Jagmander Singh said that in order to create political awareness among the students, the Punjab government has decided to conduct the Vidhan Sabha session for one day on November 26 on the occasion of Constitution Day. In the session, the roles of the Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Chief Minister and MLA will be played by students of class XI and XII of government schools of Punjab. This will also give the students an opportunity to learn a lot.

Jagmander Singh said that he is feeling very proud that he is going to participate in the session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha as an MLA and will sit on the chair of the Hon'ble post of Speaker of the House.

Students selected from government schools across the state will play the roles of Chief Minister, Speaker, Ministers, MLAs and the opposition. Speaker Sandhwan said that the main objective of the program is to make the youth aware about the democratic process, the Constitution, and legislative proceedings.  Students will participate in Question Hour, Zero Hour, Adjournment Motion, Bill Presentation, and Discussion.

Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that such sessions will be organized every year so that the youth can directly connect with the governance system. This initiative will promote transparent, educated and informed governance under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann. Students will understand how policies are formulated, debated and implemented. This step will strengthen positive participation in politics and democratic values among the youth.
