The Minister encouraged members to remain committed to improving the quality of education in government schools.

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, during an in-depth discussion with representatives of seven education department unions, stated that the state’s education system is undergoing a profound transformation. The statement was issued in a press release by the Punjab Government.

Finance Minister Cheema said that the transformation is being driven by comprehensive infrastructure upgrades under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s ‘Sikhya Kranti’ program, along with initiatives to strengthen the teaching workforce and address long-standing issues raised by educators.

The unions present included the Special Cadre Adhiyapak Front, Computer Adhiyapak Union, Computer Adhiyapak Sangharsh Committee, and Unemployed B.Ed. TET Pass Adhiyapak Union, ETT TET Pass Adhiyapak Union (Sunil Fazilka), and ETT TET Pass Adhiyapak Union (Jai Singh Wala).

The Minister reviewed the demands of the unions and encouraged members to remain committed to improving the quality of education in government schools.

During the discussion, Secretary (Education) Anindita Mitra informed Finance Minister Cheema that most of the unions’ demands were either in the final stages or under process. In response, the Minister directed the Education Department to share details of the fiscal implications of legitimate demands with the Finance Department, so that appropriate action could be taken without delay, the press release stated.

Finance Minister Cheema Holds Meeting with All Punjab DST/CTF Contract Workers Union

On the same day, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema also met representatives of the All Punjab DST/CTF Contract Workers Union and assured them that their concerns would be addressed.

During both meetings, Special Secretary (Personnel) Upkar Singh and Special Secretary (Finance) Ajay Arora briefed the Finance Minister on the departmental status of the demands raised by the unions, according to the release.

Union members who attended the meetings included Veerpal Kaur Sidhana, Manpreet Singh Moga, and Paramjit Kaur Pakhowal from the Special Cadre Adhiyapak Front; Gurwinder Singh, Rakhi Manan, and Harpreet Singh from the Computer Adhiyapak Union; Jony Singla, Nardeep Sharma, and Sunit Sareen from the Computer Adhiyapak Sangharsh Committee; Jaswant Ghubaya, Hardeep Singh, and Sandeep Singh from the Berojgar B.Ed. TET Pass Adhiyapak Union; Sunil Kumar, Salwinder Singh, and Ranjit Singh from the ETT TET Pass Adhiyapak Union (Sunil Fazilka); Kamal Thakur, Sohan Singh, and Gurmukh Singh from the ETT TET Pass Adhiyapak Union (Jai Singh Wala); and Sandeep Singh, Kirandeep Singh, and Pardeep Singh from the All Punjab DST/CTF Contract Workers Union, the press release added.
