Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai said the company is working closely with India to integrate artificial intelligence across different sections of society. He made the remarks after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Calling the meeting "great", Pichai said the discussion centred on how Google is contributing to the Prime Minister’s vision of using AI to promote inclusive growth in the country.

He explained that Google’s efforts are focused on improving healthcare services, increasing access to information in Indian languages, supporting startups and boosting productivity in areas such as agriculture.

Pichai also expressed gratitude to Modi for organising the summit, describing it as a significant forum that brings together governments, industry representatives and innovators to discuss the future of artificial intelligence.

Prime Minister Modi described the interaction as “a delight” and said they discussed India’s progress in the AI sector. He pointed to the country’s expanding capabilities in emerging technologies and highlighted the contribution of India’s students and professionals in driving innovation.

The Prime Minister also discussed ways in which Google could expand cooperation with Indian academic institutions and the technology workforce to strengthen the country’s AI ecosystem.
