Gautam Gambhir Conditions For Head Coach Position In Indian Cricket Team: Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir is gearing up for an important interview in Mumbai for the role of head coach of the men's cricket team. He'll be meeting with BCCI secretary Jay Shah and other officials. Gauti (Gautam Gambhir) is set to travel to Mumbai today around noon for the interview at the BCCI Headquarters. The meeting is scheduled between 2 and 4 pm.
Gambhir has laid out a few key conditions for taking on the head coach position. He wants complete control over the team and separate squads for white-ball and red-ball cricket. The BCCI has already accepted these terms and is enthusiastic about bringing him on board.
The job description for the new head coach covers all three formats of the game, with the tenure running from July 2024 to December 2027.
Rahul Dravid, the current head coach, began his role after the 2021 T20 World Cup, and his contract, originally set to end with the 2023 ODI World Cup at home, was extended to include this year's T20I event.
Recently, Gambhir shared his thoughts on the prospect of coaching the national team. "I would love to coach the Indian team. There is no bigger honor than coaching our national team. You are representing 140 crore Indians and those across the globe as well," he said.
Gambhir has a rich history with Indian cricket, having been part of the team that won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the 2011 ODI World Cup. His potential return in a coaching role is eagerly anticipated by fans and officials alike.
