With “64 sixes” already to his name, Abhishek now leads all full-member nation batters in maximums since his debut.
Abhishek Sharma Fastest to 1,000 T20I Runs in the World: Creates History
India’s “Abhishek Sharma” created history with his landmark record as becoming the “fastest batter in the world to reach 1,000 T20 International runs” in terms of balls faced at the Gabba.
The 24-year-old left-hander reached this milestone during the “5th T20I against Australia”, achieving the feat in just “528 deliveries”. He surpassed the previous record held by “Australia’s Tim David”, who took 569 balls to reach the mark. Opening the innings for India, Abhishek reached 11 runs off 7 balls to cross the 1,000-run landmark, doing this in his “29th match and 28th innings” since his debut in July 2024.
While “Virat Kohli” remains India’s quickest to 1,000 runs in terms of innings (27), Abhishek has now rewritten global history by doing it in “the fewest balls faced”. He has also become “the fastest Indian ever” to reach the milestone in terms of matches played.
“Fewest innings to 1,000 T20I runs (India):”
27 – Virat Kohli
28 – Abhishek Sharma
29 – KL Rahul
31 – Suryakumar Yadav
40 – Rohit Sharma
Globally, only “Dawid Malan (England)” and “Sabawoon Davizi (Czech Republic)” share this record for the fewest matches — 24 — to reach the milestone, but none have done it faster in terms of balls.
In addition to this, Abhishek was “dropped twice early in his innings”, including once before and once after crossing the record. Despite those chances, he continued his explosive form with sheer determination, maintaining a strike rate of “over 189” since his debut—the best among all batters in world T20Is during this period.
With “64 sixes” already to his name, Abhishek now leads all full-member nation batters in maximums since his debut, outpacing even power-hitters like Suryakumar Yadav and Glenn Maxwell.
Abhishek Sharma’s meteoric rise is a symbol of India’s evolving cricketing generation: fearless, fast, and built for the modern game.
