PSEB Goes High-Tech with Photo-Evidence Tracking for Feb 17 Boards
The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) is launching advanced digital measures to secure the 2026 Board examinations starting February 17. According to the report, the board will use the newly launched "MATQ App" to digitally track question papers and has introduced barcoding for answer sheets to conceal identity for unbiased evaluation.
PSEB Chairman Dr Amarpal Singh stated that the GPS-enabled app will monitor the transit of question papers from headquarters to banks and finally to the 2,366 examination centres. To ensure accountability, officials must upload photographic evidence at every handover point. Furthermore, unique barcodes will conceal the student’s identity on answer sheets to maintain candidate anonymity and ensure unbiased marking during evaluation.
The exams involve approximately 8.18 lakh students across Classes 8, 10, and 12. While Class 8 and 12 exams begin on February 17, Class 10 will start on March 6. To curb cheating, over 300 flying squads have been deployed across the state.
Dr Singh confirmed that a dedicated control room is being established at the Mohali head office to address grievances. These technological interventions aim to provide a transparent, leak-proof environment for the state’s massive student population.
