After RCB Defeat, SRK Hugs Virat Kohli, Teaches Him 'Jhoome Jo Pathaan' Hook Step
KOLKATA: Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 81 runs at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Thursday. KKR scored 203 runs in the first innings at the Eden Gardens ground. In response, RCB could only manage to score 123 runs. Shardul Thakur and the Spinners were the heroes of the team's victory.
During this, Superstar King Khan of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan gave a tight hug to RCB star Virat Kohli. Both were seen dancing to the song 'Jhoome Jo Pathaan' with Virat Kohli. After three years, Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan took some time off his tight schedule to attend his team’s first match. He was accompanied by his daughter Suhana Khan.
Notably, Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored a half-century after escaping the DRS and Varun Chakraborty took a brilliant catch off his own bowling. After witnessing the wicket of Faf du Plessis, the commentator said - even a truck would have passed away with such a difference.
Some important moments of the match and their impact....
KKR opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz gave the team a great start, but in the 8th over of the innings, Shahbaz Ahmed got him lbw on the very first ball. Gurbaz was currently batting after scoring 30 runs. He took a review to avoid it. The review revealed that the ball hit Gurbaz's glove. The umpire had to change his decision and Gurbaz was not out.
Gurbaz remained unbeaten after this DRS and scored his first fifty in the IPL. He fell victim to Karn Sharma with a 44-ball 57, but he lifted his team from the initial setbacks. In the first innings, 2 bowlers from Bangalore scored hat-trick chances, i.e. they took 2 wickets on 2 consecutive balls. Mandeep Singh and Venkatesh Iyer were bowled by David Willey on the second and third balls of the fourth over of the innings, but they could not complete their hat-trick by taking wickets on the next ball.
In the 12th over of the same innings, leg-spinner Karan Sharma got Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Andre Russell caught out on the second and third balls. However, he too could not complete his hat-trick by taking a wicket on the next ball. Both Karan and Willey ended their spell with 2 wickets each.
Impact: Willey's wicket puts Kolkata on the backfoot in the Powerplay. Karan took the wickets of set batsman Gurbaz and veteran batsman Andre Russell. If both had stayed on the pitch, the score could have been 30-40 runs more.
KKR batsman Rinku Singh hit Harshal Patel for a 101 meter six in the 19th over. Third ball of the over Harshal bowled a full toss, Rinku hit a 101 meter long six towards deep mid-wicket. He hit a four and a six in this over. Although Rinku was dismissed for a personal score of 46 runs in the same over by Harshal, he shared a partnership of 103 runs with Shardul Thakur before being dismissed.
Impact: Rinku Singh's innings and his partnership with Shardul Thakur took Kolkata past 200 runs.
