The Commission highlighted that complaints related to Aadhaar corrections, especially errors in date of birth, name spellings, and gender, are frequently being brought before it. It pointed to delays and lack of procedural clarity as key reasons why applicants are forced to escalate matters.

The remarks came during the hearing of a case involving a woman who had sought correction of her date of birth. She told the Commission that despite submitting all necessary documents, her request remained pending for a long time, eventually pushing her to approach the Delhi High Court.

Responding to the case, UIDAI said the correction has now been completed and maintained that the RTI application was more in the nature of a grievance than a request for information.

While disposing of the appeal, the Commission underlined that continuous improvements in the system are crucial to maintaining public trust in Aadhaar services.
