37 nurses commissioned as lieutenants at a ceremony

Thirty seven probationer nurses of the 48th batch of the School of Nursing were today commissioned as lieutenants at a ceremony at Western Command Hospital at Chandimandir here. Major General Manomoy Ganguly, MG (Med) of Headquarters Western Command and Major General Mukti Sharma, Commandant of Western Command Hospital awarded the rank of lieutenant to the newly commissioned military nurses

Panchkula: Thirty seven probationer nurses of the 48th batch of the School of Nursing were today commissioned as lieutenants at a ceremony at Western Command Hospital at Chandimandir here.     Major General Manomoy Ganguly, MG (Med) of Headquarters Western Command and Major General Mukti Sharma, Commandant of Western Command Hospital awarded the rank of lieutenant to the newly commissioned military nurses.     Maj. Gen. Ganguly later gave the medals and trophies to distinguish performers.     Brig. S V Saraswati, Principal Matron of Western Command Hospital administered the oath to the newly commissioned Nursing Officers, a defence spokesman said here.     Lt. Chinchu Eldhose won the gold medal for securing the first position in academics.     Lt. Binsa K Sasi won the silver medal for being second in the batch. Lt. Malini Lama was adjudged the best all round cadet and Lt. Jyoti Prusty was awarded the best bed side nurse rolling trophy.     Till date 753 nursing officer have passed out from the School of Nursing in this region.     Addressing the newly commissioned Nursing Officers, Maj. Gen. Ganguly said, "Military nursing is a noble and highly challenging profession where a nurse needs to work hard many times even in difficult terrain to provide a compassionate and comprehensive care to the soldiers and their families".     He called upon the young Nursing Officers to keep abreast with the latest trends in the health care delivery system to ensure optimum care and well being of the patients.     Maj. Gen. Mukti Sharma, Commandant of Western Command Hospital in her address emphasised the importance of the profession which requires constant selfless devotion and preparedness to meet the health demands of the Armed forces.
