Canada Express Entry Rules, Immigration Latest News: In a significant move to uphold the integrity of Canada’s immigration system, Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, announced new measures to combat fraud in the Express Entry program.
Starting in spring 2025, candidates will no longer receive additional points for having a job offer. This temporary measure aims to eliminate the incentive to illegally buy or sell Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) to improve selection chances for permanent residency.
The change will apply to all candidates in the Express Entry pool, including those currently working in Canada on a temporary basis. However, it will not affect candidates who have already been invited to apply or those with applications currently under review.
“Immigration is vital to Canada’s economic success,” said Minister Miller. “By making these adjustments, we aim to ensure a fair and transparent system while continuing to attract the best talent from around the world.”
