“Everyone is talking about artificial intelligence. I don't even like the name,”
Why Donald Trump Wants To Rename AI?
Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday proposed renaming Artificial Intelligence, offering an unusual yet passionate reason as he laid out his vision for American leadership in the global AI race, Hindustan Times reported.
Speaking at the 'AI Race Summit' held in Washington D.C. on July 23, which was attended by top tech leaders and investors, including AI advocate David Sacks, Trump expressed his dislike for the term "artificial."
“Everyone is talking about artificial intelligence. I don’t even like the name,” Trump said during his address. “You know, I don't like anything that is artificial, so can we straighten that out, please?”
He continued, “We should change the name. I actually mean that. I don't like the name 'artificial' anything because it's not artificial. It's genius. It's pure genius.”
In a major policy move, Trump signed an executive order outlining a 25-page “aggressive, low-regulation strategy” aimed at reinforcing the United States' dominance in the global AI race, especially in competition with China, according to Mint, which cited an AFP report.
“America was the country that started the AI race,” Trump said. “As President of the United States, I’m here today to declare that America is going to win it. Winning this competition will be a test of our capacities unlike anything since the dawn of the space age.”
