Two Indians Killed, One Abducted in Terror Attack in Niger’s Dosso Region
Niamey, July 15 – In a heinous terror attack in Niger’s Dosso region on July 15, two Indian nationals were tragically killed and one was abducted, the Indian Embassy in Niger confirmed.
The Indian Embassy in Niamey is in close contact with local authorities to facilitate the repatriation of the victims’ mortal remains and to secure the safe release of the abducted Indian national. The embassy has also urged all Indian citizens residing in Niger to remain alert and vigilant.
According to ANI, citing Arab News, unidentified armed attackers ambushed a Nigerian army unit that was providing security at a construction site for an electrical line in the Dosso region, approximately 100 kilometers (63 miles) from the capital, Niamey.
This incident follows a deadly terrorist attack in March this year, when the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) targeted the Kokorou area in Niger. That attack resulted in the deaths of around 44 civilians and left 13 others severely injured, according to an ANI report citing a UN Security Council press release.
