Indian immigrants deported from the U.S. are expected to arrive in Amritsar

Illegal Indian Immigrants in US Deported Latest News Today: In a major development, two more flights carrying Indian immigrants deported from the U.S. are expected to arrive in Amritsar this weekend. This follows the deportation of 104 illegal migrants by the Trump administration, who arrived at Amritsar airport, earlier this month. This occurrence put in order with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the U.S. to meet with President Donald Trump, who took office on January 20. The discussions on illegal immigration are expected to be a major topic during their meeting.

A major issue has been the manner in which the first group of deportees were sent back. They were returned to India handcuffed and with their legs chained, which sparked widespread national disapproval. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge convicted the severe treatment, stating that they were treated "even worse than garbage." The Congress party has urged PM Modi to address this issue with President Trump.

Punjab's Finance Minister, Harpal Cheema, criticized the decision to land the deportation flights in Amritsar, suggesting that the NDA-led Centre was trying to defame Punjab. He argued that the flights should instead land in states like Haryana or Gujarat, suggesting political motives behind the choice.

The Indian government has expressed its concerns to the U.S. regarding the treatment of deportees. This has led to increased careful examination of travel agents in Punjab and Haryana, who are suspected of facilitating illegal migration by charging large amounts of money.

Recent reports indicate that the U.S. has informed India about 487 presumed Indian citizens with final removal orders. Additionally, 203 illegal migrants were rounded up by American authorities, mainly along the Mexican border.
