The altercation occurred during a demonstration at the Brampton Mandir. According to the police statement, tensions between opposing groups escalated, leading to physical confrontations where flags and sticks were reportedly used as weapons. Numerous offences, many captured on video, prompted police to launch a detailed investigation.

One suspect, identified as 35-year-old Inderjeet Gosal of Brampton, was arrested on November 8 and charged with assault with a weapon. He has been released under specific conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

The SIT, formed to investigate the incidents from November 3 and 4, noted that the complex investigation is ongoing and further arrests are anticipated as more suspects are identified.
