Forbes Most Powerful Women 2023: In a remarkable achievement, four Indian women have etched their names in Forbes' prestigious list of the 100 Most Powerful Women for the year 2023. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stands tall at the 32nd position, securing her place for the fifth consecutive year in this influential global roster. The list also features prominent figures like singer Taylor Swift and US Vice President Kamala Harris, emphasizing the diversity of impactful women across the world.

The impressive trio accompanying Sitharaman includes HCL Corporation CEO Roshni Nadar Malhotra at the 60th rank, Steel Authority of India Chairperson Soma Mondal at 70th, and Biocon Founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw at 76th. Their recognition underlines the diverse fields and roles where Indian women are making significant contributions on a global scale.

Notably, this marks the fifth consecutive appearance for Nirmala Sitharaman on Forbes' list, ascending from the 36th position last year to the current 32nd spot. In 2021, she held the 37th position, showcasing a consistent and impactful presence among the world's most influential women.

Forbes' annual list is topped by Ursula von der Leyen, Chief of the European Commission, with European Central Bank Chief Christine Lagarde in second place and US Vice President Kamala Harris securing the third spot. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni claims the fourth position, adding to the global diversity represented in the rankings.

Forbes employs a comprehensive approach, evaluating women based on criteria such as money, media presence, influence, and sphere of influence. Political leaders are assessed using GDP and population parameters, while corporate leaders' rankings incorporate revenue, valuation, and the number of employees. The list serves as a testament to the multifaceted achievements and influence of women across various sectors worldwide.
