Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has tested positive for Covid-19.

Moscow: Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has tested positive for Covid-19.

PhotoPhotoMishustin confirmed his test results in a video-conference with President Vladimir Putin. First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov will temporarily perform Mishustin's duties.

Putin signed a decree appointing Andrey Belousov to the role on an acting basis, following Mishustin's recommendation.

The country surpassed 100,000 confirmed cases earlier on Thursday, after announcing its highest single-day rise of 7,099 new infections.
