Uttarakhand Bans Manufacture and Sale of Liquor Brand 'Trikal' latest news: The Uttarakhand government on Tuesday banned the manufacture and sale of the liquor brand ‘Trikal’ by leading alcohol company Radico Khaitan in the state, citing no permission was given for the manufacture.
In a press release issued, the state’s Excise Commissioner Harichandra Semwal stated that the Excise Department wants to clarify that no permission has been granted for the manufacture, registration, or sale of any such brand in the state.
He said, “In Uttarakhand, neither has permission been granted for the liquor brand ‘Trikal’ or any similarly named brand, nor will it be given in the future.”
Semwal further stated that the department has come to know that a liquor brand named ‘Trikal’ has been launched in other states, but the news being circulated on social media linking it to Uttarakhand is misleading and false.
He added that in Uttarakhand, which is known as the ‘Devbhoomi’ (land of gods), no brand or product will be allowed for sale that is named after deities or religious concepts, and that could hurt the religious sentiments of the residents.
Calling the news being circulated on social media a deliberate conspiracy, the Excise Commissioner said that the department is taking action to file an FIR under relevant cybercrime laws, against those spreading misinformation. He also appealed to the public not to believe such rumors.
State’s Excise Commissioner Harichandra Semwal told ANI, that the whisky, “has neither been allowed to be manufactured in the state, nor has any approval been granted for registration or sale.”
