Helicopter Crash Near Gaurikund, Kedarnath Dham latest news: In a tragic incident, seven people lost their lives in a helicopter crash while en route to Kedarnath Dham on Sunday morning.
The Aryan Aviation helicopter was flying from Guptkashi to the Himalayan shrine, carrying pilgrims on a short 10-minute journey. The chopper crashed between Gaurikund and Sonprayag.
Rescue teams rushed to the site, but unfortunately, all those on board were reported dead.
“The SDRF team has reached the crash site at Jorshi (above Gaurikund) — the helicopter was completely burnt, and all seven bodies have been recovered by the rescue team. SDRF, NDRF, and district police are engaged in the relief operations,” said SDRF Uttarakhand Police.
Speaking to ANI, Sonika, CEO of the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA), said, “At around 5:30 AM, we received information that a helicopter going from Shri Kedarnath Dham to Guptkashi was untraceable. Shortly afterward, it was confirmed that it had crashed near Gaurikund. The rescue operation is underway, and SDRF teams have reached the spot. A total of six passengers and one pilot were on board the helicopter.”
According to officials, the victims were from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed the incident and said, “Very sad news has been received about a helicopter crash in Rudraprayag district. SDRF, the local administration, and other rescue teams are carrying out relief work. I pray to Baba Kedar for the safety of all the travelers.”
