Uttarakhand Weather Update: Entire State Under Orange & Yellow until August 14 Latest News
Nowcast: IMD Dehradun on Sunday issued orange and yellow alerts for several districts in the state, warning of heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, for the next four days starting today, that is, until August 14.
According to the state weather department, heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Bageshwar, Dehradun, Tehri Garhwal, Pauri Garhwal, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, and Champawat districts of Uttarakhand.
As per the forecast, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places in all districts of the state.
According to ANI, the orange alert s issued as a warning of extremely bad weather with the potential of in the commute with the possibility of road and rail closures, and interruption of power supply, while the yellow alert is issued to wan citizens of severely bad weather, suggesting that the weather could turn worse, leading to disruption in the functioning of daily life.
NowCast Uttrakhand Weather Valid Up To 9 PM tonight:
The IMD Dehradun has placed nine districts of the state under a yellow alert, warning of light to moderate rain with a rainfall of less than 5-15mm per hour. It has also warned of thunderstorms with wind blowing at speeds less than 40 KMPH.
The nine districts under the yellow alert are Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Champawat, Nainital, and Haridwar.
No alerts have been issued in the nowcast, which is valid until 9 PM tonight.
However, as per the forecast, the entire state is under orange and yellow alerts, with the orange alert issued in Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Dehradun, predicting heavy rain. It has also warned of thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and more.
