Seven Arrested for Attacking Locals with Swords at Petrol Pump in Uttarakhand’s Srinagar
Srinagar (Uttarakhand), June 5: Uttarakhand Police on Wednesday arrested seven individuals for allegedly attacking locals with sharp weapons at a petrol pump in Srinagar, Uttarakhand, officials confirmed.
According to Circle Officer Anuj Kumar, the incident occurred when a group of friends at the petrol pump requested 8–10 men riding five Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles to ride more peacefully, as the loud noise from their modified silencers was causing a disturbance. The bikers reportedly became aggressive and attacked the locals with sharp weapons.
Based on the complaint filed by Srinagar resident Pawan Uniyal, an FIR was registered at the Srinagar police station under sections 109 (attempt to murder), 353 (statements conducing to public mischief), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Circle Officer Kumar said, “We received a complaint from Pawan Uniyal, who stated that he and his friends were near a petrol pump in Srinagar when 8–10 people riding five Bullet motorcycles were creating noise with their silencers. When they asked them to ride peacefully, the group attacked them with sharp weapons. The victims had to flee for their safety, but the assailants chased and assaulted them. Some individuals sustained injuries in the attack.”
Police immediately reviewed CCTV footage and found that the accused were heading toward Rudraprayag. “Our team pursued them and successfully arrested seven accused. We also recovered three swords and seized their bullet motorcycles,” Kumar added.
