STF Busts Fake Foreign Embassies Running from Ghaziabad House, One Arrested
Fake Foreign Embassies Running from Ghaziabad Latest news: The Special Task Force (STF) has uncovered an illegal operation of running multiple fake embassies of foreign countries from a house located in the Kavi Nagar police station area. On Tuesday night, the STF raided the premises and arrested a man named Harshvardhan.
The STF recovered Rs 44.70 lakh in cash, foreign currency from various countries, 20 number plates of diplomatic vehicles, and four cars already fitted with diplomatic plates from his possession.
The STF had received a tip-off that fake embassies were being operated in the Kavi Nagar area by using foreign flags and fake diplomatic number plates on vehicles. These embassies were allegedly being used to defraud people.
Before taking action, the STF verified the information with central agencies, which confirmed that no embassy can be operated in India without approval from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and that such activities violate India’s sovereignty.
The STF informed Kavi Nagar police and reached the location around 10:00 PM on Tuesday night. A sub-inspector and a constable from the local police also joined them. At the scene, they found Harshvardhan Jain.
He was questioned inside the fake embassy’s office. During interrogation, Harshvardhan revealed that he had been acting as a middleman for jobs in India and abroad for several years.
He claimed to be associated with individuals from self-declared “micronations” like Seborga, Westarctica, Poulvia, and Ladonia, who claim to be heads of states and operate outside of internationally recognized governments. These individuals often engage in lobbying or brokerage work with governments and private entities in various countries.
Harshvardhan, in collaboration with people from Seborga and Westarctica, had set up private “embassies” for these so-called countries in India. He had also installed diplomatic number plates on four of his cars, and was charging large sums of money by promising overseas job placements. He even obtained diplomatic passports from Seborga.
When the STF checked his social media accounts, they found that he had edited and posted photos of himself with India’s President and Prime Minister, as well as other international leaders, to falsely show high-level connections. Some of these edited photos were also displayed in his office to impress visitors.
Inside the house, police also found his father-in-law Anand Jain, Ishwar Singh (a resident of Bhatia Mod), and Hemant Kumar Rajvanshi, a domestic help. Ishwar and Hemant were made witnesses in the case. Harshvardhan Jain was arrested, and a formal complaint has been registered at Kavi Nagar police station.
Items Seized
Two forged press cards in the name of Harshvardhan Jain from a newspaper, and a diary were found. The diary contained details of various bank accounts and phone numbers of people. Other items recovered include a pen drive, two PAN cards, documents with forged seals of the Ministry of External Affairs, an Aadhaar card, a Voter ID card, a diplomatic card, seven illegal passports, Rs 44.70 lakh in cash, foreign currency from various countries, 34 official-looking seals, 20 number plates of diplomatic vehicles, 12 branded watches from various companies, four vehicles with diplomatic number plates, one laptop, and one mobile phone.
