UP CM Yogi Adityanath Directs Establishment of Sports Colleges latest news: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday directed officials, during a meeting with the Department of Sports, Youth Welfare, and Provincial Guard Force, to establish a sports college in every division of the state and to accelerate the construction of a mini sports stadium in each assembly constituency, The Free Press Journal reported.
According to the report, the CM instructed that all sports-related construction projects be completed on time without compromising on quality. He emphasized regular review meetings—from ministers to officials—at various levels to track the progress of these projects.
The CM also stated that each sports college should be developed as a “centre of excellence” and affiliated with a sports university to provide “international-level facilities.”
He further directed that PRD jawans and Mangal Dals be trained in disaster management, and that PRD jawans also receive training in traffic rules to assist in traffic control.
PRD jawans (Prantiya Rakshak Dal personnel) are part-time, voluntary security force members in Indian states like Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. They assist in disaster management, traffic control, maintaining law and order, and other public services, often being deployed during festivals, elections, emergencies, or natural calamities.
The CM also ordered strict monitoring: monthly reviews at the ministerial level, biweekly reviews by the principal secretary, and weekly reviews by senior officials. Non-compliance could lead to accountability for the responsible agencies.
He stressed the importance of a fully transparent player selection process to nurture new talent, the report said.
CM Yogi also called for village-to-state level sports competitions to identify talent, with integration into MP-MLA tournaments. For the upcoming Sports and Injury Management Center at Guru Gobind Singh Sports College in Lucknow, he proposed expert collaboration with SGPGI or KGMU. He also urged the Sports Department to expedite recruitment for its vacant posts.
Additionally, he emphasized timely completion of all construction projects under the Youth and Provincial Guard Corps, as per the report.
