UP CM Yogi Adityanath Addresses Kisan Samman Samaroh in Auraiya, Highlights Pro-Farmer Initiatives
Auraiya, June 9 — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday addressed the Kisan Samman Samaroh in Auraiya, where he highlighted various central and state government initiatives aimed at benefiting farmers. According to ANI, Adityanath also conducted an aerial survey of maize crops during his journey from Lucknow to Auraiya.
While speaking at the event, CM Yogi said, "For the first time in 2014, we saw a government make farmers—who feed the nation—a central part of its political agenda, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Soil Health Card scheme."
He added that the central government, under PM Modi, subsequently launched the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (Agricultural Irrigation Scheme), the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (Crop Insurance Scheme), and the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan).
Talking about the PM-Kisan scheme, he said, “Twelve crore farmers across the country benefit from the Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.”
CM Yogi also underlined the efforts of the "double-engine government" (BJP-led governments at both the Centre and the state) in making farmers' futures secure and prosperous.
“When our government came to power in 2017, farmers were committing suicide, and there were no facilities for them. We first introduced a loan waiver program worth rupees 36,000 crore, which benefitted 86 lakh farmers,” he said.
"After the loan waiver, we implemented the Prime Minister's Agricultural Irrigation Scheme to boost irrigation infrastructure across the state," he added.
